Dissident Mama, episode 85 – VDARE’s Lydia Brimelow

Lydia Brimelow is the Publisher of VDARE.com and President of the VDARE Foundation where she develops strategies for the survival and success of the Immigration Patriot movement in the face of increasing limitations on freedom of speech and freedom of association, as well as politically repressive denial of critical business and communications services.

Brimelow and I discuss cancel culture, the serious and very real threat of defamation, “hate sharing” vs “love sharing,” the value of the Castle conferences and human connection, the “newly awake,” the import of battling “for the future” while trying to maintain balance, reaping the harvest of hard-fought work, how to stay inspired despite the seemingly insurmountable push back, and more.

Be sure to check out the speeches from June’s VDARE conference which I was fortunate to attend (and is the origin of the feature image at top), the Brimelows explaining the “mortal threat” of lawfare tyranny to which VDARE is being subjected, this recent essay critiquing the First Amendment crisis and the hateful subversives who are behind it, and her husband Peter’s bestselling book “Alien Nation: Common Sense About America’s Immigration Disaster.”

A few relevant DM items include my interview with fellow conference-planner Father Deacon Ananais Sorem, and my essays “Armed & ready at the gate” and “A dark horse in these dark times.”

Great interview, Rebecca! I love Lydia (Peter’s not bad too). The Brimelows came through (the worst of all Southern cities) 7 years ago, and set up a dinner with VDARE supporters. What an evening! And they bought the wine!

As a Catholic, it was great to hear Lydia’s own thoughts on “brooding about death.” She was bang on, I’ll tell you. One of the best Catholics I know (prayers for you now, Dr Jim), once told me that the point to life was to get to heaven. Lydia puts it in such a great way. Work hard in defense of the truth (which is God), worked towards great weariness so that when death comes, you welcome it, as now the time to rest.

    Keep up the great work.

I really appreciate your comment and encouragement, sir. I am also glad you enjoyed the interview AND your wine soiree with the Brimelows! Yes, I agree with your Christian points entirely. As I wrote in the conclusion to my last essay, “As spiritual athletes, everything is iron-sharpening training, but especially acts and works that are unpopular precisely because they’re God-honoring. Yet, the more we fearlessly labor, the more we must rely upon Him. And Lord willing, one glorious day, we’ll cross the true finish line and hear: ‘Well done, thou good and faithful servant.'”
