With more than 15 years in the entertainment and radio business, Buford T. “Big Hoss” hosts the live radio podcast “Buford T. America Bluegrass and Country Show” Saturdays at 7 p.m. Eastern at the website The Bluegrass Jamboree. You can follow his DJ page here. But Buford T. also believes in preserving heritage and advocating for real history regarding the “War for Southern Independence.”
Ellen McWhorter is a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and serves on the North Carolina Sons of Confederate Veterans Memorials Fund committee. She’s a member of the Madison County Election Board in Kentucky and has served on various political and civic boards and committees.
Together, Buford and Ellen are hosts of the new podcast “The Road to Dixie” where they team up to bring listeners an informative and entertaining take on the South’s history, culture, politics, and people. In my first-ever interview with two guests, the three of us Southern partisans have a grand ol’ time. One thing’s for sure: Buford and Ellen ain’t skeered!

Note: Be sure to check out the January 29 episode of Buford’s music show in which he gives a sweet shoutout to the Dissident Mama podcast, as well as a few nods to Miss Ellen. If you like classic and outlaw country, western swing, bluegrass, and pro-Dixie ditties, you’ll certainly enjoy the entire program!
Speaking of which, Buford accepted my off-air invitation to return to my podcast some time in 2022. We plan on discussing his passion for traditional styles of American music, which is something he happens to share with your humble host. We’ll talk all things roots music and see if we can’t find out a bit more about what makes Buford tick.
Moreover, Ellen agreed to write a guest post for my blog. The topic? Her pivotal trip to Scotland where she experienced peak anti-Southern hostility (which she mentions in this podcast). Being that so many Dixians are descended from Scottish ancestors and that Scotland has many times throughout its history sought independence from the United Kingdom – and came darn close to seceding just 10 years ago – you’d think they’d have a clue. But apparently not.
So keep an eye out for that sure-to-be thought-provoking essay by Ellen, a true Southern lady, as well as my forthcoming fun-loving conversation with the fine gentleman known as Big Hoss!

Dissident Mama, have you read the pieces in Chronicles Magazine by Mark David hall in which he glorifies the pilgrim/puritan voyage to america and attacks the ante bellum for slavery and praises the abolitionist?
Author
Yeah, not a fan. I think I’ll stick with Abbeville Institute when it comes to history and thought on the puritans and slavery, and stick with Chronicles when it comes to current cultural criticism.
Dissident Mama,
Have you considered inviting “Based Home School Mom” onto you show? I bet she’s pro-south even though she’s up in Michigan. She has great insight into the occultist roots of feminism too.

Great minds think alike! I actually reached out to her before Christmas to get something rolling with her. She agreed to chat, and I was hoping to have her on in February, but it’s probably going to be in March. She did, however, send me a pdf of her anti-feminism book, so I’ll definitely be reading that before we chat. And yes, if her tweets are any indication, I am 100% confident she’s pro-South!
Another shot in the arm, DM! Despite one’s best efforts to avoid the endless direct and indirect Dixie-bashing, it still gets through. Miss Ellen’s and Buford T’s voices are all the more encouraging amid the rest of the cacophany!
Thanks again!

I pray their show is a great success. Like you say, we so need bold voices to resist the cacophany … and people to use such precise language as cacophany! 🙂 Stay bold, brother!!
