Rick Dirtwater, an alumnus of Virginia Military Institute and an occasional opinion writer for Identity Dixie, gives us a deep dive into the cultural genocide happening at the historic school, which used to be the proving ground for making modern cavaliers and gentlemen warriors. So, Dirtwater shares his personal experience with the VMI ethos and its Spartan lifestyle of regimented training formerly utilized in building men of strong character. Unfortunately (and predictably), the institution has finally fallen victim to the cancer of wokeness.
We discuss how the devolution has occurred, including the abolition of the “old corps” via SCOTUS’s United States v. Virginia some 25 years ago, “turncoat” Ralph Northam’s totalitarian reconstruction of the Old Dominion and its premiere military school, and the fourth-estate hit pieces insisting that the college has a “racist and sexist culture.” Whereas “Save the males” used to be the rallying cry around VMI, the progressive precept is now death by 1,000 cuts and you’d better damn like it. Such barbaric times leave little room for honor, which is precisely by design.

Thank you–wonderful interview with Rick Dirtwater. I was especially touched by his discourse on honor. At one time it was actually held up as an ideal for political leaders. Ours is a society without honor and without intelligence. I thought Mr. Dirtwater was able to size up our situation well, and keep his perspective–and honor — intact.

I’m glad you liked our chat, Caryl. Yes, Rick is a fine gentleman, almost like a relic of sorts because of exactly what you say: that ours is society without honor AND intelligence. These virtue are not only NOT taught, but their opposites (dishonor and stupidity) are vaunted as the pinnacle of modern existence. The worst people are lauded (like St. George Floyd) while the best (like Jackson) are torn down. Thank God there are people out there like Rick not conforming to madness. It ain’t popular, but it is godly.
I had the grateful pleasure several years ago as a War Between the States re-enactor to actually fire the four cannons Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. They are brass cannons, the very cannons that Gen Jackson used during the war. That was such an honor and a memory that I will cherish the rest of my life.
Deo Vindice.

Wow, that is indeed such an honor. The leftist goons may have taken the hill for now, but they can never take our memories and lived experiences. Cherish that one for sure.
